In line with my last blog post, some insights:
Many users of modeling tools discuss the used modeling notations. The advantage of the standard notations of OMG® is that knowledge of the notations is now widespread and there is a standardized exchange format for the models created. This does not always apply to proprietary notations. I am surprised that notations (such as data flow diagrams) are used without knowledge of the syntax rules. But syntax rules apply to proprietary notations too. Which modeling elements exist, what is their meaning, which relationships between the elements are permissible, what is their meaning?
These discussions focus on the formalization and evaluation of collected information in models. Gathering information in workshops or interviews is often "forgotten".
